Flow indicator for bulk solids
- Measuring principle

The compact flow indicator for bulk solids is a non-contact device based on microwave technology and works with a frequency of 24.15 GHz.

Measuring principle

Measuring principle
  • The microwave signal is emitted via an integrated horn antenna and reflected by bulk solids as they move. In the process, the device measures the strength of the reflected, frequency-shifted energy (Doppler effect) and uses it to form a display value or output signal.
  • The LED bar display and the 4-20 mA current output reflect the relative signal strengths of the signal reflected by the medium as it moves.
  • It is not possible to measure absolute sizes with the FTR20!

Advantages

  • The measuring principle is independent of:

    • Temperature and pressure in containers
    • Aggressive and abrasive media
    • Dust, steam, mist, smoke and sediment deposits or build-up
    • Airflow, air layers of different temperature

  • Non-contact measurement procedure, therefore no wear and no maintenance required
  • It is possible to take a measurement through non-metallic container materials directly from the outside
